  • Jihee Kim - President Chair

    Hello delegates!

My name is Jihee Kim and I am a junior at SSIS Suzhou. This is my 2nd year participating in the Model United Nations, and it is my honor to serve as your president for SHAMUN XXIV – UN Commission on the Status of Women.

The issues surrounding women’s rights, particularly in the areas of health and reproductive care have become important in recent years. Addressing the challenges and giving out solutions should be done urgently. Therefore, the topic I will be focusing on is Strengthening global access to female healthcare and reproductive care.

Each conference provides precious and unique opportunities and so will SHAMUN XXIV - take time to research the topics, understand the challenges, and make valid solutions. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any concerns.

Can’t wait for fruitful debates and fun memories with all of you! See you all in October!

  • Jessica Kim - Deputy President

    Greetings, fellow delegates!

My name is Jessica Kim, a junior at Suzhou Singapore International School. It is my honor to serve as the Deputy President of the UN Commission on the Status of Women at this year’s SHAMUN conference. I started MUN in my sophomore year and have participated in five conferences since then - this year’s SHAMUN will be my second time as a chair.

My issue of focus for this conference will be “addressing women’s freedom of movement and access to social services in Yemen”. While the issue may appear far removed from the experience of many delegates, it is still crucial to recognize the implications it has on global human rights and gender equality. The entrenched patriarchal structure in Yemen has led to severe violations on women’s basic rights and freedoms, and in recent years, the issue is further exacerbated by ongoing conflicts and socio-economic instabilities in the country. Addressing these issues on both on the local and international level is crucial as we aim to improve the quality of life of countless women, both within Yemen and globally.

As I only started MUN last year, I’m extremely aware of how intimidating MUN conferences may seem to beginner delegates. Therefore, my co-chairs and I will do our very best to guide and support all delegates throughout the conference, ensuring that every delegate departs SHAMUN with valuable memories.

Can’t wait to see you all in October!

  • Rena Tong - Deputy President

Hey Delegates, Welcome to SHAMUN XXIV!

I am Rena Tong, a junior at SSIS Shanghai, and I am honoured to be your Deputy President Chair for this conference.

My MUN journey began in 7th grade, and I’ve participated in over 10 conferences since then. I have experienced first-hand the transformative power of attending such conferences, which not only enhance our understanding of international relations but also develop our confidence, research skills, public speaking, and negotiation abilities.

Model United Nations is a platform for young minds to debate, collaborate, and find solutions to the world’s most pressing issues. My topic of specialization is ensuring equitable access to social and public protection services for women. Women have historically faced systemic barriers due to cultural, economic, and political inequalities, limiting their access to healthcare, education, legal protection, and other vital services.

Come ready to think outside the box, speak with confidence, and listen with an open mind. Every voice matters and every idea has the power to make an impact.

    See you all in October!
