Security Council - SC

President Chairs

  • Rachel Chi - President Chair

    Hello delegates!

I’m Rachel Chi, a current student at Dulwich College Beijing, and I am honored to serve as your president chair for the Security Council. I first started MUN in 2022, with this iteration of SHAMUN marking my 11th total conference and 5th attending as a chair. This activity has been an integral part of my high school experience so far, and I hope my co-chair and I can continue to make MUN rewarding for new and old delegates alike.

For the duration of this conference, my topic of specialization will be "The Anglophone Crisis and the Situation in Cameroon". Although this dispute is relatively obscure in the grand scheme of international relations, I expect debate to be productive and fruitful regardless, and for each of you to contribute enlightening perspectives to the committee.

    See you all in October!

  • Sophia Li - Deputy President

    Greetings, all delegates!

My name is Sophia, and I will be serving as your deputy president for Security Council at SHAMUN XXIV. I am an upcoming junior at SASPX and SHAMUN XXIV will mark the beginning of my third year in the MUN program.

Despite my late start in MUN, I have experienced so much throughout the journey and every piece of MUN memory is unforgettable. The interaction with other delegates, chairs, admin staff and secretariats have allowed me to grow rapidly and develop a deeper interest for social studies, political science and international relationships. My wonderful experience along the MUN journey allows me to believe that this year’s SHAMUN will be as benefitting and enjoyable as it can be.

My topic of specialization will be developing responses to regional displacement and instability in the Northern Triangle. In this topic, we will be debating on the forced displacement and instability in the Northern Triangle of Central America, which includes Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, caused by a number of factors, such as violence, poverty, environmental challenges, political instability, and failed drug policies.

I look forward to seeing you all at SHAMUN XXIV, and good luck to everyone!
