  • Danielle C. - Deputy President

    Dear delegates,

I’m Danielle, a junior at Shanghai American School., who considers herself to be quite the ‘MUN addict’, I have delegated and chaired numerous local, interregional, and international conferences.

I am passionate about the topic of strengthened prevention and responses to violence against children, as it is a critical issue that affects children globally. The prevalence of violence against children in various forms, such as domestic abuse and child trafficking, is alarming, and it's essential to address this issue with empathy, seriousness, and diplomacy.

I hope to encourage all delegates to engage in meaningful debates and create unique and creative resolutions that can make a real impact in preventing and responding to violence against children.

I look forward to working with all of you and am excited to see the outcomes of our discussions! In the meantime please reach out if you have any questions about the topic.

  • Seoyun K. - President

    Hello delegates!

I am Seoyun, a junior at SAS Puxi campus. It is my honor to serve as the president of the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime.

This is my seventh year in MUN, and I am thrilled to help delegates have a great experience at our annual SHAMUN conference. MUN not only provides delegates with experience to widen their perspectives, but it also allows all of us to uphold the highest moral values when viewing various world issues.

Throughout my chairing experience, I have witnessed delegates who have been intimidated at first, but became one of the best speakers in the committee by the end of the conference. I hope this isn’t pressuring anyone to force themselves to speak every time. However, if you have a POI, speech you want to make, I would encourage giving it a try. Even at the worst case, nothing bad will happen. In fact, this might provide you with more courage to speak up.

I will try my best to make our committee a enjoyable experience for everyone, and I hope to see everyone on the day of Conference!

  • Elaine L. - Deputy President

Esteemed delegates, student officers, directors, and guests,

My name is Elaine, and I am currently a sophomore at Hangzhou International School. It is my honor to be serving as deputy president for the UNODC committee in SHAMUN XXIII.

I have participated in several MUN conferences as both a chair and a delegate. MUN have taught me many of things such as collaboration, public speaking, and receiving other perspectives on global issues. My communication, literacy, and thinking skills have further developed through participating in conferences which is also beneficial for my daily life.

My topic of focus, effective legal frameworks to combat transnational organized crime, is an issue that directly affects the public financing capacity of areas and can block the economic development of a place from tax avoidance and illegal financial flows. I am looking forward to the discussions, brainstorms, and fruitful debates between delegates.

I hope everyone will have a great experience in SHAMUN XXIII, see you all in October 13-15!
