General Assembly III - GA III

President Chairs

  • Seoyun Kim - President Chair

    Welcome delegates!

I am Seoyun Kim, a senior at Shanghai American School Puxi campus. It is my honor to serve as the president of General Assembly III.

This is my eighth year in MUN, and I am more than excited to make wonderful memories at my last SHAMUN conference. MUN not only advances our public speaking, collaboration, and problem-solving techniques, but it also provides us with valuable experiences that can widen our perspectives.

I will be focusing on the issue of developing frameworks to eliminate international terrorism. The rise of modern international terrorism has posed continuous threats to global peace and security. The United Nations continues to implement counterterrorism efforts through adopting International Conventions and establishing specialized offices. With thorough preparation and in-depth research, I passionately believe that our committee will be able to draft meaningful solutions to this issue. Feel free to reach out at any time if you encounter questions about the topic or in general.

I will try my best to make our committee an enjoyable experience for everyone, and I hope to see everyone on the day of Conference!

  • Nikki Tan - Deputy President

    Welcome all Delegates!

I’m Nikki Tan, a Year 11 student from YCIS Puxi, and I am incredibly honoured to serve as Deputy President of the General Assembly III committee in SHAMUN XXIV.

Model United Nations has fostered my political mindset and fuelled my passion for world-wide collaborations. I encourage delegates to make friendly interactions, seize chances to speak, and, most importantly, have fun!

I will address the issue of “Measuring to strengthen the Olympic ideal and sustainable development through international games”. The International Olympic Committee, created from the United Nations, faces sustainability challenges in Olympic games, including political disagreements, unequal accessibility to stadiums, etc.

Delegates are recommended to conduct thorough research and preparation to craft feasible resolutions and engage in fruitful debates addressing all topics.

I guarantee this year’s conference to be yet another unforgettable MUN experience. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the three chairs if you have any questions. I can’t wait to meet everyone in October!

  • Jennie Tan - Deputy President

    Welcome delegates!

I am Jennie Tan, a Year 10 student at Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong. It is my honor to be serving as the Deputy President in General Assembly III for SHAMUN XXIV.

With four years of experience in MUN (all as delegates), I’ve attended various conferences that are mainly across China. I am thrilled to chair this conference, especially as it marks my first time in this role.

In this conference, I will be focusing on the issue of ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. This topic aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 7, which aims to provide universal energy access, promote renewable energy, and improve energy efficiency. I am positive that our committee will have the ability to draft innovative and comprehensive resolutions along with fruitful debates!

Hopefully, SHAMUN XXIV can be another unforgettable experience in all our MUN careers – see you all in October!
