Past crises, reenacted.

The most powerful organ of the UN, the HSC is created to encourage delegates to generate innovative and reflective solutions, in response to past conflicts.

Historical Security Council - HSC

President Chairs

  • Jialei Z. - President

Esteemed delegates, student officers, directors, and guests,

Welcome to the Historical Security Council! My name is Jialei, and I am a senior at Shanghai American School Pudong. I have

participated in several MUN conferences, as both a chair and delegate. MUN has taught me

about the importance of collaboration, and community and provided me with various perspectives on

    global issues.

After 9/11 shocked the world over two decades ago, the topic of addressing foreign terrorism in response to 9/11 remains relevant. I am excited about the discussions that delegates have and the solutions our committee brainstorms.

If you have any questions or concerns during the conference, please feel free to ask. Looking forward toworking with everyone!

  • Happy L. - Deputy President

    Hi,

My name is Happy, a sophomore at SAS Puxi. I am very excited to be serving as a Deputy President in this year’s SHAMUN conference! For this conference, my expertise will be on the topic of the First Congo War.

A little about my MUN experience: I have attended MUN for the past five years – and attended many official conferences as a delegate, as well as six more as a Chair. Really though, I say these qualifications only because I want all delegates to know that us Chairs are qualified to make this conference a good one, and one that you might look back on as you later travel further into your MUN journey. We want you to enjoy these two days, learn new things, and see from different perspectives. And as a promise on my side, I will do my best to ensure that every delegate gets attention, recognition, and the opportunity to speak out when it comes to sharing all of your voices.

So in true MUN fashion, I can only end on this note: I look forward to seeing all of you, and I wish for a fruitful debate.

    Good luck!
