  • Alex W. - Deputy President

    Hi!

I’m Alex, a sophomore from SAS Puxi. I’ve been doing MUN since middle school, and have been a frequent participant of the activity ever since.

With a passion for both international relations and current events, as well as plenty of conference experience under my belt, I’ll try my best to make your time at SHAMUN the best it can be. This is my first time chairing an official conference, so I hope to learn a lot from everyone on the committee too. Aside from MUN, I also enjoy violin, writing, and debate. I also really like to travel, having visited all continents aside from Africa; some of my favorite destinations include Paris, Japan, and Canada.

Looking forward to working with everyone!

  • Seoyun (Eunice) C. - President

Honorable chairs, esteemed delegates, and most distinguished guests,

I’m incredibly honored to have the chance to serve as a chair for SHAMUN XXIII this year.

My name is Eunice, and I’m currently a senior at the British International School, Shanghai, Puxi. I have been a part of MUN only since the beginning of 2022 and have attended 6 conferences in various committees. Decision-making is the most important process, as well as the objective of the United Nations. It is not only important to the UN; every individual has to make decisions every second.

Like the red pill and blue pill, which could be seen as a perspective to make decisions, and further: as a way of solving problems in politics, we, ourselves, have to think about which is the correct direction and need the courage to step forward. Giving new ideas and showing every delegate’s ideas are vital. Having to consider the importance of making a change, I would like to highlight that the voice could be heard from any place, including yourselves.

Being a chair, I would like to encourage all the delegates to come up with creative ideas to achieve a fruitful and memorable conference.

  • Joshua D. - Deputy President

    Greetings,

I'm Joshua, a junior at the International School of Beijing. I'm very honored to have my first chairing experience at SHAMUN XIII.

I remember beginning my MUN journey in 9th grade, initially thinking it was solely a debate club. However, I soon realized that it was so much more. After attending several conferences, I can confidently say that MUN is where we can voice our opinions on many urgent global issues, reach a consensus, act as responsible leaders of the near future, and, most importantly, empower others.

For newer delegates: although it can be nerve-wracking sometimes, if you have an idea worth sharing, I strongly suggest that you raise your placard high and make that speech, POI, or amendment. If you fail and embarrass yourself in front of others, use that experience as a stepping stone to improve yourself in the long run. Therefore, you have nothing to lose. All seriousness aside, I believe that MUN is where you can connect with new people, enlighten yourself with new ideas, and have a good time.

I look forward to seeing you all at the conference, and I hope we all have a fun and memorable MUN experience!
