Valeriana L. - Deputy President
Hi all,
I’m Valeriana, a sophomore at the International School of Beijing, and I am honored to be offered this opportunity as your Deputy Chair. This conference would mark the start of my 3rd year at MUN and an introduction to chairing for me. I have developed a passion for discussing world issues through different country stances since the start of my MUN career. I sincerely hope that delegates can have a memorable time at this conference.
See you soon!

Suhani C. - President
Hi everyone!
I’m Suhani, a senior at Shanghai Community International School and it’s an honor to serve as the president for the Economic and Social Council at SHAMUNXXIII!
4 years ago, when I walked into my first MUN meeting at my school, never did I think it would lead to me going on to become a chair at any conference, let alone SHAMUN! However, everyone starts somewhere and MUN is all about the journey. That is why I wholeheartedly believe it is essential to explore SHAMUNXXIII’s theme - Red Pill, Blue Pill: Beyond the Matrix. Serving as a philosophical inquiry, this theme invites us to contemplate the choice we have to confront uncomfortable truths or conform to comfortable illusions. As a chair, I encourage delegates to “take the red pill” and embark on a journey that may present challenges, but allows for immense personal growth and embracing intellectual curiosity.
That being said, I’m looking forward to meeting all delegates and hearing all the informative debates!

Matthew S. - Deputy President
Greetings and salutations!
I am Matthew, a sophomore at Shanghai American School, Puxi Campus.
I began doing MUN in 7th grade, and that year’s SHAMUN was actually my very first conference as a delegate. It is extremely coincidental and lucky that SHAMUN eventually became my very first conference as a chair. Now with more experience, it is wonderful that I get to chair again at SHAMUN, where my journey started.
As usual, I look forward to hearing brilliant arguments and great compromises, detailed responses, and well-crafted resolutions. The topics we are debating are extremely important issues demanding attention in our ever-so-complicated world, and I sincerely hope that all delegates walk away understanding more than they came with.
May the best resolution pass!
