Meet the Student Officers

  • Deputy President

    Teresa C.

“Hello, delegates! It is my pleasure and honor to be serving as one of your Crisis vice presidents. I am currently a sophomore at SAS and have been a part of MUN—and the colorful, welcoming, and unabashedly nerdy community that it is—since middle school. The more our conference date draws near, the less I can wait for everyone to witness the months of work poured into designing the committee experiences at SHAMUN this year, and I'm sure the rest of our decorated student officer team would agree. I look forward to meeting you in October!”

  • President

    Bryan O.

“Hi all! My name is Bryan and I’m currently a senior at Suzhou Singapore International School. Model United Nations has always held a special place in my heart since I joined 5 years ago, and it’s my pleasure to serve as President Chair of the Crisis Committee in the upcoming SHAMUN XXII conference.

Unique among the MUN bodies, while other committees build consensuses to recommend solutions, the Crisis Committee performs direct action to address urgent, constantly evolving conflicts, producing more dynamic and fast-paced debates. So don’t forget to work on your improv skills ;)

Each and every one of you delegates have the potential to be influential, so I personally encourage you all to speak out. Don’t be ordinary! To be ordinary would be to skip the chance to inspire minds around you. To be ordinary won’t bring smiles to faces nor make hearts skip. Nor will it invoke advancement in a planet that needs it. I hope we’ll conclude the conference together with an eye-opening experience and the desire to attend more conferences.

Looking forward to meeting all of you, not only as delegates but as friends!”

  • Deputy President

    Samuela M.

“Hi guys! My name is Samuela and I am delighted to serve as your Deputy President in the Crisis Committee. Just a little about myself: I am a senior in SMIC-I Private School Shanghai and have been doing MUN for the past 7 years now. I have attended over 19 conferences in Asia, and have experienced everything from being an admin staff in SMICMUN III to being head chair in MUNiSC XIV. Out of all these conferences, all the delegates shared in common their will and desire to solve injustices through rigorous debate and impeccable diplomacy. I hope that trend does not end with you guys as we will be reenacting a--hopefully--better scenario of the Vietnam War. Although this issue presents itself as a partisan concern, I hope that we can end this conference with a bi-partisan solution. With that being said, I hope to see you all well prepped and well read on October 28th! Cannot wait to see what this committee has in store!”

Crisis Backroom

  • Backroom

    Daniel S.

“Dear delegates of the Crisis Council, I'm Daniel, a sophomore at Shanghai American School, and it is my privilege to be one of your backroom crisis council members. I started MUN in 6th grade and have participated in many conferences both in and outside of school. I especially enjoyed participating in crisis committees myself, and hope that I can share the fun that I had with you this committee. Enjoy!”

  • Backroom

    Cooper S.

“Hi everyone! My name is Cooper, and I’ll be a member of the crisis backroom for this event. I’ve been doing MUN since seventh grade, making it almost four years! This is the first conference I’ve ever been an officer for, and I’m excited to get started. I’ll try to make crisis as enjoyable as possible, and good luck to all the delegates! “

  • Backroom

    Maya T.

“Hi! I’m Maya, and I am absolutely delighted to have the honor of participating in SHAMUN. I’m currently a senior at Shanghai American School Puxi. I have participated in MUN since middle school and this year I have the privilege of being a part of the MUN officer team. I can’t wait to meet you all and see what solutions you come up with. I hope to see you soon!”
