European Parliament - EP

President Chairs

  • Nini Li - President Chair

Hi fellow delegates! My name is Nini Wenxin Li, an IB 2 student from Huili School Shanghai. I am thrilled with this opportunity to chair at SHAMUN again, this time as the president of the European Parliament.

With a keen interest in international relations, I’ve consistently engaged myself in discussions regarding global issues. The European Parliament, a directly elected legislative body of the EU, intrigues me in the sense that member states are “united in diversity”. The EU is often simply seen as a wider body that represents countries within Europe, but the intricacies of the union and the different legislative bodies are not to be neglected. In the process of simulating the European Parliament, I can imagine that delegates will be given a lot of freedom as delegates reflect national political opinions, together reflecting the diversity of the citizens and members states of the EU.

Overall, I’d consider myself to be a very fun-spirited chair! In the spirit of MUN, no single nation within the committees is of greater value than others, and delegates shall take pride in the member state they represent. I’d love to see delegates challenge themselves by experimenting the brand-new rules of procedures with us, and I’m sure we’ll have loads of fun!

  • Ida Joung - Deputy President

Hey everyone! I’m one of your deputy presidents for this year’s European Parliament, and I hope you are all as excited as I am!

MUN has been a passion of mine for the past four years, and I can honestly say it has been one of the most rewarding and eye-opening experiences of my life. The skills I’ve gained through MUN from public speaking and diplomatic negotiation to critical thinking and problem-solving have been invaluable. As your deputy president, I hope I can create the same engaging and enriching MUN experience for all of you.

Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and get involved! This is a great opportunity to delve into global issues, make friends, and develop skills that will serve you well throughout your life.

And as always, reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns! See you!

Let’s make this an unforgettable MUN experience! I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.

  • Allison Wang - Deputy President

Esteemed delegates, student officers, and directors,

Welcome to SHAMUN XXIV! My name is Allison Wang, a freshman at Shanghai American School Puxi (SASPX). I am honored to serve as the Deputy President of the European Parliament.

SHAMUN will mark my 11th conference and 4th time chairing. For the past 4 years in committee rooms, I’ve met new delegates, chairs, admin, and secretariats- and I can’t wait to meet you all at SHAMUN this year.

I will be focusing on the topic of Developing Comprehensive Frameworks to Enhance International Protection of Third-Country Nationals. As we are all aware, the protection of third-country nationals residing within the European Union is a crucial issue that requires delegates to establish frameworks to improve the security, rights, and welfare of individuals from countries outside the EU who reside within EU member states. During the three-day conference, I hope delegates can engage in compelling debates, create unique resolutions, and have fun. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

    See you all in October!
